|St. Gabriel Art Camp|
Finally- a summer kid's art camp on the west side of Portland!
What is St. Gabriel Art Camp all about? Each day we will hear story, poetry and prayer from a different world faith tradition- Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and Hinduism, and then spend the rest of the day responding to it through free-form art with paint, ink, pencil, fiber and mixed-media; through music with instruments, singing , dancing and moving our bodies; and through drama by creatively acting out parts of the story. Responses will be experienced-based rather than production-based although your child will end up with some interesting and personal art pieces. We will explore how different faiths and cultures approach peace, love and family and learn what binds us all together.

Spirituality: Our Art Camp will have a gentle spiritual component as art itself is of the spirit. At camp we will hear peace prayers and sacred stories from each of the major world faiths but most of our pursuits will be culturally-based. Our aim is to open our minds and have rich experiences with music, dance, drama, storytelling and making art.
