Mission Statement

To promote healing and wholeness of mind, body and spirit through contemplative prayer, intercessory prayer, and laying on of hands.

Romans 8:38-39 – “No power on earth can separate us from God’s love.  Not our sin, not any authority, not any spiritual force.  God’s love is unshakable and can always be relied upon.”

Ministry Statements

The tradition of offering prayers for healing dates back to the very earliest days of the church and is rooted in Jesus’ own ministry as a healer and in his proclamation of the creative spirit of God at work in our midst.  Members of St. Gabriel’s healing ministry seek to be used as instruments of God’s healing gift, conveying care and love for those who need support, are ill, or are in pain.  Healing prayers are offered:

·        During Eucharist on Sundays and other services

·        At hospitals or home visits

·        If desired, by appointment

·        Through participation in St. Gabriel’s prayer chain

Our foundation is contemplative prayer. Our training prepares us to focus prayerful attention in spoken or silent prayer and through the laying on of hands.

Our training is rooted in healing ministry teaching conducted under the knowledge and guidance of Francis Geddes.  Francis has developed and taught Contemplative Healing, a practice of healing prayer, for the last thirty-two years.

Our belief is that wholeness and healing equally involve the physical body, emotional and spiritual aspects of the self.

We do not presume to seek a “cure” through our own discernment, but pray with others to seek God’s greatest good for each unique person and situation.
