Our Clergy

The Rev. Linda Potter, Interim Rector

Canon Linda is St. Gabriel’s interim rector while the parish conducts a search for a permanent rector. Linda+ was most recently serving as the Interim Canon Associate at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral starting in October of 2019 and she and her husband Tom are current members of St. Gabriel. Born in Oklahoma, she grew up in Oregon, married an Oregon native, and has lived in the Denver and Chicago suburbs.  A retired priest (for the fourth time!), Linda graduated from Portland State College (before it was a university) and Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She loves to travel, cook, entertain/party and watch movies with her husband.

The Rev. Everett Charters, Assistant Rector

Rev. Everett Charters is the assistant rector at St. Gabriel. He recently completed his MDiv. program at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate in June 2020. Father Everett grew up in Maine and was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. He attended New York University where he graduated with a BA in History. He spent many years working for The Asia Foundation in San Francisco, CA before moving briefly to Oregon before heading to Hawai’i. He eventually returned to Oregon and now lives in Forest Grove. Everett was Confirmed in the Episcopal Church on December 13, 2015 at St. Gabriel and is looking forward to his first position in ordained ministry with us.

The Rev. Gregory Rainey, Deacon

Deacon Greg assists Canon Linda and Father Everett, with a special emphasis on ministry to people experiencing marginalization, and is also focused on supporting the ministries of all members of St. Gabriel. Greg’s ministry in the world is in hospital clinical social work focused on cancer and palliative care patients and their families. His previous ministries include pastoral care, support for people who are unhoused or hungry, and visitation to people who are isolated, sick, or dying. Greg is also passionate about social justice and inequity, especially relating to mental health, race, gender, and LGBTQI identities. His MSW and Graduate Gerontology Certificate internships encompassed Veterans, cancer and palliative care patients, and hospice patients, as well as their loved ones. Finally, as a Coast Guard retiree and former Marine, Greg has a special love for fellow Veterans and their families.
